Telemetry Receivers

Telemetry is used to remotely collect and transmit measurement data from vehicles, aircraft, spacecraft, or other platforms to a ground station. In aerospace and defense, it supports flight test data acquisition, missile range monitoring, UAV downlinks, and satellite tracking. It enables engineers to monitor performance parameters — such as speed, temperature, and structural loads — in real time without physical access to the platform.

Lumistar specializes in professional-grade aeronautical and defense telemetry receivers rather than consumer RC hobby systems. Lumistar's LS-28-DRSM and LS-27-M series receivers are engineered for IRIG-compliant flight test and range applications, supporting RF bands from 200 MHz to 6 GHz. Lumistar telemetry receivers cover RF bands from 200 MHz to 6 GHz, including P-band (215–320 MHz), Lower L-Band (1435–1540 MHz), Upper L-Band (1710–1850 MHz), S-band (2200–2400 MHz), NATO E-Band (2185–2485 MHz), and C-band (4400–4950 / 5091–5250 MHz). Up to five RF bands per channel can be configured on a single unit, with a 70 MHz IF option also available.

Lumistar receivers support a comprehensive range of demodulation formats including PCM/FM (multi-symbol and legacy single-symbol), BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, SQPSK, SOQPSK, AQPSK, AUQPSK, Multi-H CPM, PCM/PM, and analog FM video (NTSC/PAL) with subcarrier demodulation. The LS-28-DRSM supports data rates up to 60 Mbps. New modulation formats can be added via software/firmware upgrades without hardware changes.

Lumistar offers three primary form factors: rack-mount (1U–4U) for fixed ground station installations, modular brick (6.00" x 4.00" x 1.67") for compact and embedded deployments, and portable IP-67 rated lunchbox enclosures for field and mobile operations. All form factors support the same core receiver functionality, and the rack-mount version is also available for the LS-27-M series as an optional 1U configuration.

Yes. Lumistar telemetry receivers comply with IRIG-218 telemetry data format standards, IRIG 106 (including optional LDPC), ARTM Tier II phase noise requirements, IEEE 1588 PTP, CCSDS data formats, and Military Standard C-4150J. MTBF is calculated per MIL-HDBK-217 Notice 2, and the portable enclosures meet ATA Specification 300 and IP-67 ratings for rugged field deployment.
